Hope you had a great Thursday. We're almost there... one more day!!! This weekend I am going to try something new..

Kale.

After seeing it in Earthfare, hearing about it on Modern Family, watching a coworker eat it frequently, and having my mama tell me about it I've decided to try it. I found a list of the benefits kale has and here are a few:

-Risk-lowering benefits for cancer
-Cholesterol lowering
-Detoxification and digestive benefits

I found this recipe on a blog I read every now and then for baked kale chips. YUM! A healthy snack!

Delighted Momma gives the following directions for baking kale chips!

-Wash and dry Kale
-Remove the stem from the kale
-Rip them into chip sizes
-Spray olive or coconut oil on them
-Sprinkle with sea salt and whatever seasoning you like
-Bake for 15 min at 300 degrees

I am going to try these this weekend and see how they are! I will let you know! Please comment if you have any good recipes for kale!

the giving tree

Semester after semester the classroom supplies I have provided keep disappearing. Markers, pencils, pens, scissors, glue, computer paper and more seems to keep walking right out of my room! So I wanted to come up with a fun way to get students to bring supplies in!

I saw a similar idea on another blog and took it a step further. I painted a tree on a piece of poster board, dye cut apples out of red paper, and painted the leaves green. Then I printed out just a few supplies my classroom desperately needs.

Open House was disappointing. I had just a handful of parents come and none take an apple from my Giving Tree. Well let me tell you this.... I am so thankful for this season of sickness in my classroom! Suddenly, my students are realizing the need for tissues and other supplies. Slowly but surely, I have seen more and more apples disappearing and more and more supplies appearing. I am so thankful for the goodness some people have in their hearts! ❤

bridal shows and birthdays

First and foremost, Happy Birthday to my man!! Both of us are January birthdays and only 11 days apart! So we end up celebrating another wonderful year of life for a solid two weeks. Well, except this year. While we've had a few celebrations with family, we haven't done much other than me work and he study. Nevertheless, it's going to be an EXCITING year for us!!!!!

Today my mama and I attended TWO bridal shows! Athens Weddings Professionals and the Georgia Bridal Show were both in Athens! It was so fun to see all of our vendors, get ideas, and get an assortment of new bags, magazines, and cake. I even got to wear a Bride sticker at both events! It was a really cool day. We have made so much wedding progress this weekend, it feels good!

Wedding fun!

This weekend has been full of wedding planning fun! Saturday night my mama treated David and I to a fantastic Last Resort dinner! If you have never had Last Resort in Athens, you are missing out!

I had one of their staples (pictured here)-the chicken praline. And for dessert we did our cake tasting! YUM! While they were all great, I can't tell you what we picked! Sorry!

Faith Friday

At church we have started reading a book called, "With Christ in the School of Prayer" by Andrew Murray. When we started the 40 Days of Prayer, we were given a booklet detailing what to pray for specifically every day. When I saw the quote above, I knew I had to share it. It is SO relevant to me right now. Prayer changes EVERYTHING. It really does.

In the front of our booklet's there is a quote that says, "Prayer is one of the greatest privileges of the Christian life." I mean whoa... marinate on that for a minute. We can talk to God anytime we want about anything. And He wants us to! We have been called to "pray without ceasing"! I encourage you to give Him all you have. Prayer changes EVERYTHING. He listens. He loves it when we simply dwell in His presence.
