road trip

David and I got up really early to head to Asheville on the 30th! We wanted to make several stops along the way and bypass some closed roads in the process.
And.... We saw TONS of snow ❄❄❄ and this Georgia girl just had to go play in it!
David let me jam out to 90s (the only thing I listen to) almost the whole way. My favorites you ask? Every song written during the 1990's. Anything Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind, Matchbox Twenty, ALL boy bands, TLC, and Coolio just to name a few.

Confession: in high school, I named my tennis racket Rainmaker. Mostly, because I was obsessed with the song Real World by Matchbox Twenty. I told David about it in the car today, we had a good laugh. Instead of Coach Dove, maybe I'll have my tennis team call me Rainmaker. (Seriously kidding!!)

On our first night we dined at Tupelo Honey Cafe. Every time we mentioned going to Asheville, it was recommended to us that we eat there. It lived up to the expectations. The biscuit and honey was such a yummy start to the meal. I had "fried" chicken in nut flour and nuts(GF) it was amazing! And after our waiter went on about how famous their Brown Butter Pecan Pie was... well, we had to try it.
And he was right.... It was AMAZING!
We shared one piece, but we were wishing we hadn't!

David and I spent all of the 31st touring the Biltmore, Biltmore village, and downtown Asheville!
I had not been to the Biltmore since 2000 and David had never been, so we were soaking it all in!  It was gorgeous!  They were still decorated for Christmas and it was beautiful.  We went back for the Candlelight Tour.  All of the fire places and candles were lit, it was amazing.
Outside the Biltmore with the beautiful view!!
In front of the Biltmore, about to go in!
In the Biltmore conservatory!

We ate our New Year's Eve dinner at Cedric's in the Biltmore.  Cedric was the family dog that lived there.  I even got a picture with him...err...his statue.
And we couldn't leave sweet Hazel without bringing her back a yummy treat!
We went to Three Dog Bakery and picked up some treats that she absolutely LOVES!

She actually helped me write this post... but really she just walked on my key board and erased everything, so I got to start all over!

I hope you had a wonderful New Year!  We certainly did!

Merry Christmas!

I can't believe I haven't blogged since December 6th!
Since I've been off work, I have spent a lot of time with the puppy!
And catching up on sleep....

I am fully rested and ready for a new semester now, but I'm so excited I still have another week off!
Since I've been on Christmas break I've...

Spent time with family and friends...
I've taken lots of walks with sweet Hazel, in my new kicks...
Completed a few puzzles with the hubby...
Started reading books... FOR FUN!
Watched lots of movies and Modern Family Season 3...
(Hazel hid beside the couch during one movie!)
And loved on my sweet puppy!
As you can tell, it was no exaggeration that I've spent a lot of time loving on my puppy!  Hazel met LOTS of family and friends.  She is purely exhausted.

David and I are going to enjoy some time in the mountains before life gets crazy again.
We are going to visit Asheville, NC and the Biltmore!  We are so excited!
I hope you had a MERRY CHRISTMAS as well!

the end

we decided that since its was a bye weekend for georgia football AND the end of my fall break...
we'd celebrate this BEAUTIFUL weather AND the leaves turning BEAUTIFUL colors...
with a trip to the mountains!

we accomplished the four things on our list for a fall trip to the mountains (plus many more!)
- get a pumpkin
- pick apples
- eat boiled peanuts
- bring home a souvenir

we picked the perfect weekend, because the apple festival was in full swing!
our first stop was Burt's Pumpkin Farm!
 Indian Corn!
 Precious mini pumpkins!
With our pumpkin!! (We also got a smaller one!)

After the pumpkin farm, we headed to pick apples!
I wish I had more pictures of this, but we were searching so hard for apples I forgot!
That would be my husband up in the trees getting us the most perfect apples!
And here are all 27 of them cleaned!
We are in the market for healthy apple recipes.
Let me know if you have any, or want an apple!
Then we got hungry for lunch! So of course, we ate BBQ!
The place we at lunch at is famous for their fried pies, so David got us two to try, strawberry and peach!
Then boiled peanuts on the way home :)
And for our souvenir?
We bought a beautiful log with candles in it for our coffee table!
WE ARE IN LOVE!
So here is everything we brought home today...
We got one large pumpkin and one small pumpkin!
Some mild chow chow and scuppernong jelly.
And lastly, some muscadine bread (which David has already fallen in love with)!

We did pretty well for our fall day of fun!
But now it's time for me to go back to work...
And also time for me to enter grades... while I watch REVENGE :) :)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend/fall break/Sunday!

Love, Court

all things fall!

My favorite time of year is here! FALL!
I just love EVERYTHING about fall!  Pumpkins, the air, the leaves, boots, UGA football, cool evenings, apple picking, and visiting the mountains.  It's all so perfect!
Every year, David and I take a day trip to the mountains.  We fish, hike, pick apples, eat BBQ and get a pumpkin.  It is always a perfect day :)
We've already started talking about what day we are going to go make our trip this year.  Until then, I'm pinning and planning all of the fall projects that I want to get down.
Pinterest can just be so inspiring.

I'm usually very traditional when it comes to pumpkins.  I stick to square eyes, a triangle nose, and a mouth with three, maybe four teeth.  But maybe this is the year for change?
I am loving these chevron pumpkins!
Baking with pumpkin, yum!  My sister loves to give me a hard time about pumpkin pie.  I used to complain about how much I hated it.  To be honest, I think it's an acquired taste.  Nevertheless, I really like pumpkin pie now.  I love this cute idea for a pumpkin!  What a cute kitchen deocration!
If I've never said it before, you should know that I LOVE GLITTER.
All things glitter, sparkle, and sequin.
All things that SHINE! Yes, I love it all!
So if you tell me that I can make my pumpkin a glitter pumpkin.
It's pretty much going to happen!
Street numbers painted on pumpkins. How cute!
I will end the pumpkin obsession here, with this precious front door display!
What a cute idea, to use them as planters!

Now I'm going to get ready to cheer on the DAWGS!!!!
It's Saturday in Athens!!

thursday, the third day

If you watched my video from yesterday, you understand the title to my post. I attribute it to Joey from Friends :) Today, I stumbled upon some pictures from the day trip to the mountains fiance and I took in January! We had so much fun! We stopped in a few small towns and looked around the shops. We also went hiking and walking on trails. On those trails, we saw some of the most BEAUTIFUL sights. A small snow and ice had just come through and we saw beautiful icicles. I found the biggest one I could get to take a picture with!

We decided to look for something to commemorate our day of fun! In one shop, we found a great deal on this beautiful fruit basket! Of course there is a lot more you can do with it. We were so excited!

We stopped by Goats on the Roof because I had never been. While it was WAY too cold for the goats to be out, we had a good time looking at all of the hillbilly paraphernalia they had for sale. Outside they had a nice fire pit that you could roast marshmallows at. Of course, I insisted David do it so I could take a picture!

We walked around several stores and spent a lot of time laughing and just have a great time. While we were in one particular store, we found the coolest puzzles EVER! Now, we aren't exactly puzzlers. Once, we bought a box of 4 and only completed half of one. BUT these puzzles are of famous portraits, or you can customize it. The best part, the pieces are in many different and familiar shapes! However, they are very expensive. Here is a link to my favorite one- Liberty Puzzles

I hope you are having a great week! Please feel free to leave a comment if you want!
